Whether you're struggling in a particular class, or you simply feel like you need a bit of extra time to discuss the concepts you're learning, weekly tutorial sessions can help you better understand your subject and give you extra confidence in your own ability it. Whatever assistance you need, I'm prepared to meet you where you are -- no judgement -- and get you to where you're going. By the time the semester's over, I bet my enthusiasm will even be contagious: not only will I help you get better grades, but I'll do my best to help you enjoy the process. My tutoring services include classes in the humanities (English, History, Philosophy, World Issues, etc.) as well as basic writing.
General Tutoring
My extensive experience as a teaching assistant and private tutor has taught me an important lesson: no two students are alike. Sometimes the classroom experience can be overwhelming and distracting, and one-on-one tutoring can help you to achieve the kind of focus needed to achieve excellent grades. Generally, I require an initial meet-and-greet consultation to assess where you are and where you want to be. From there, you and I can determine how often we want to meet and how we want to structure our time. You may want to only meet before critical assignments are due, or you may prefer a weekly session that will ensure you're keeping up with the concepts being taught. This service is available for $35/hour in person (Oakville, Toronto) or $25/hour via Skype.
Tutoring Plus+
Sometimes, students feel that they need extra lessons in order that they fully understand their subject. Others may want to move their tutoring beyond our weekly sessions to include the editing of major assignments. This service accounts for all the hidden work that can go into tutoring, like editing and lesson planning. In order to maximize our time together, you might want me to prepare exercises and activities in advance. This service is available for $35/hour in person (Oakville, Toronto) or $25/hour via Skype. All other hours (lesson planning, editing) will be billed at $25/hour, and will be agreed upon in advance (I will never "surprise" bill you).
